On the western edge of the Historic District, The Torre Latino Americana offers a spectacular view of the City from the 38th floor. Across the narrow street of Madero, the Casa de los Azulejos an 18Th Century historic building all covered and decorated with original tiles 300m years old. Crossing Eje Central Avenue The Palacio de Bellas Artes a 19th Century all white marble building performing as a theater as well as an Art Museum with many fine sculptures. It is the home of the Folkloric Ballet of Mexico. When visiting, during your tour, secure a Ticket to see the Ballet the most outstanding all over Mexico and which performs some week evenings.
From Bellas Artes and only 2 Kilometers North you reach Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Tlatelolco, you will simultaneously view the interaction of Pre-Hispanic Archeological Site, with a Colonial Church and a huge modern Multi Buildings Family Apartment Complex.
Another day, choose National Museum of Anthropology in Chapultepec Park, it shows the evolution of the different aborigine cultures including miniature layouts of the most outstanding archeological sites in the country. It has different sections and areas for each culture, with objects, ceramics, masks, steels and all sorts of historic findings that explain the evolution of the huge Pre-Hispanic Civilization in Mexico, the Biggest in all the American Continent. In the same area after crossing the Zoo, visit the Chapultepec Castle, a 19th Century palace, known for its impressive gardens. It was the Official Residency of many presidents of Mexico until 1939, but was also the Home of the failed Emperor Maximilian and the failed Napoleonic Intervention, so it shows historic Items of that period and the defeat of the French Army. If you are traveling with children, after the Castle, don’t miss Papalote Museo del Niño which has interactive settings that show the evolution of energy and technology innovations supporting our Modern World Civilization.
