Riviera Maya is contained on an almost 100 miles long strip of Caribbean Coast. Playa del Carmen is the Mid Point of this strip that extends from Cancun to the Mayan Sacred City of Tulum. The many Hotel Areas along the Riviera Maya have their guests’ visit Playa del Carmen for Shopping and all the Entertainment and Activities Playa del Carmen has to offer. Playa del Carmen is a Unique place that developed explosively in the past 10 years all along and in parallel to the beach and to the Riviera Maya Highway. People mingle and concentrate on “La Quinta Avenida” today converted in to a pedestrian walkway, a block away from the Beach. Avenues in Playa del Carmen are numbered in Multiples of 5, so the next parallel avenue is Number 10. Streets crossing these avenues are “Pair” numbers and are counted in multiples of 2. The Commercial extension of 5TH and 10TH avenues runs along 20 streets.
On the south end of 5TH Avenue extending towards 10TH Street and the Pier, you have the Paseo del Carmen shopping mall area, with Luxury Brands offering Collection Items such as Benetton, Guess, Diesel and World famous duty free perfumes at Ultrafemme. You will also have Jewelries, Quality beach wear, accessories and apparel. This mall furthermore contains several First Class Restaurants with Mediterranean and Mexican Cuisine, offering Seafood, Meat, Pasta as well as some Gourmet Specialties. Once you exit Paseo del Carmen Mall and as you go north, all along the “Pedestrian” 5th Avenue and to some extend, on 10th Avenue, you will find all sorts of Stores, Restaurants, Bars and entertainment places. Even if you don’t buy anything, you will encounter a great experience. ART will be present in Galleries, but also in the creativity of Mexican Artisans with beautiful priceless items from all over the country, representing different cultures and ethnic groups. You will additionally find all sorts of outlets with Beach Wear, clothing, silver and souvenirs. According to the type of outlet, bargaining will be a must. There will be other Stores much more formally presented which have fixed prices. Finally, on the side of the Highway you have several Large Shopping Centers with huge Self Service Stores and all sorts of products 90% manufactured by Mexican industries.
